Seth Ponku is a political scientist with over ten years of experience in research and development and public policy and project implementation. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, all from the University of Ghana. Seth has extensive knowledge of the political economy of Africa in general and Ghana in particular arising from his working experience with local and international organizations. He worked as a Research Assistant with the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) based at the University of Ghana where he supported the evaluation of the Government of Ghana and donor-funded projects in areas such as rural electrification and rural telephony expansion, livelihood empowerment against poverty, alternative social and economic opportunities for sustainable rural development, and improved land tenure and acquisition system. He again worked as a Research Officer with the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) on a decentralization and local economic development project based in Ghana. Additionally, Seth has professional working experience with Plan International Ghana as a Community Development Assistant with responsibility for supporting and overseeing the implementation of community and child development initiatives. Significantly, Seth has experience working with several public sector organizations in Ghana that design and implement policies of government. In this respect, Seth worked as a Research Officer with the Parliament of Ghana where he was instrumental in undertaking scientific research activities and coordinating constituency development projects and engagements of the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West. More so, he worked as an Intelligence Analyst with the National Security Council Secretariat of Ghana where he supported the gathering of time-bound and actionable intelligence and conducted an analysis of the same to advise the government. Currently, Seth works as the Executive Director for Syntex Synergy Company Ltd which provides services such as business and trade facilitation, research, monitoring, and evaluation, promotion of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change resilient policies, capacity development and training for organizations, and provision of support services for corporate entities in the implementation of projects and the supply of general goods and services.
